Stoke Mandeville Relief Road is a new 2.3km stretch of carriageway which will connect the A4010 and the B4443 Lower Road, bypassing the village of Stoke Mandeville.

Scope Overview

We delivered the civil engineering works for the Stoke Mandeville Relief Road, working closely with EKFB and adjacent contractors to ensure the project is delivered efficiently and in line with key programme milestones. Our scope includes temporary works design and construction, drainage, highways and associated infrastructure works, together with the coordination of tie-ins to existing roads to minimise disruption to local communities.

Key elements of the works include

  • Installation of over 7km of drainage up to 3m deep
  • A 50m-long 1,500mm diameter drainage culvert with precast headwalls
  • A 40m-long box culvert with in-situ concrete headwalls
  • 14km of kerbing
  • Sub-base and verge earthworks
  • A 30m-long reinforced concrete box culvert within the Stoke Brook watercourse, comprising in-situ headwalls, installation of precast box units, reinforcement, concrete works, waterproofing and associated drainage components, forming a critical element of the new road alignment
