The Acton Depot in West London serves a dual purpose for Transport for London (TfL): it operates as a major heavy engineering and train modification facility, and acts as the secure storage store for the London Transport Museum.

Project Overview

The Modification Unit project involved building a 160m long train maintenance building, incorporating four pitted rail tracks and an accommodation block that provides welfare and office facilities for 100 staff. The project also included the installation of new tracks and turn outs that connected into London Underground's existing network.

Scope Overview

Our works included the construction of pit roads, installation of stormwater drainage and below-ground ducting for future services, and the delivery of M&E service trenches across the site. We also constructed reinforced concrete slabs for accommodation buildings and completed gas and drainage under-track crossings (UTXs) to support the wider infrastructure requirements of the development.
