Beckton DLR Depot

  • 54 New Trains
  • DLR Upgrade
  • London, UK

Beckton Depot forms a key part of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) upgrade programme, supporting the introduction of 54 new trains and the future growth of the network.

Project Overview

Major works will deliver a new maintenance building, including a new train-lifting road, craneage, under train access and pits to enable the final assembly of the new B23 trains and longer-term maintenance facilities as more of the new fleet is introduced. A new test track facility will also be constructed to allow testing of the new Thales signalling system.

Scope Overview

Our scope includes a wide range of civil engineering works to facilitate the expansion of the depot, including site preparation, drainage, utilities, reinforced concrete structures and trackside infrastructure.

Key elements of the project include pile caps and capping beams, surface and foul drainage, ducting networks, under-track crossings, reinforced concrete pits, gas membrane installation, apron slabs, walkways, track slabs and perimeter fencing.

Delivered within a live rail environment, the works require careful planning and coordination to ensure the safe integration of construction activities alongside ongoing depot operations.
