Greenford Quay Substation

  • 1,900 Units
  • Grand Union Canal
  • London, UK

The Greystar Greenford Development will be a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood of 1900 units on the banks of the historic Grand Union Canal. The vision for Greenford is to bring the previously derelict 20.3-acre site back to life, reviving the area and creating a lasting community for residents and visitors alike.

Scope Overview

We delivered a state-of-the-art underground energy centre and substation to support the wider Greenford Quay development, providing low-voltage electrical distribution and district heating infrastructure to the residential blocks.

Our works included the construction of a Grade 2 waterproof reinforced concrete structure, internal masonry walls, pumping systems, service entries, lighting, fire protection measures and specialist architectural finishes. Working closely with the design team and coordinating multiple contractors across the site, we successfully integrated the facility within the landscaped public realm.

The project also included the construction of 360m of canal wall, a new pedestrian bridge over the Grand Union Canal, and micro-tunnelling works beneath the canal to install utility connections serving the southern areas of the development.
